I've been waiting for a solution for non-browser use-cases before exploring Persona/browserid. I've never seen a hint of this drafts existence on the Persona website. In the presentations I've seen, Mozilla personnel have never mentioned this or have indicated that no solution is available.

Maybe I've looked in the wrong places or have not been paying attention, but it seems to me like there's a communication gap here.
