This is somewhat fascinating considering the way that US gen Z is at the same time turning away from alcohol. I live in a wine region, heavily dependent on tourism, and I can tell you that industry is scared that millennials and Zs are not drinkers like previous generations.
Embassy parties are another way plenty of Saudis would get around to having a tipple (at least in Riyadh) - plus they're pretty fun, be it in DC, London, Riyadh, etc
Early in my expat career, I used to go to parties at the US embassy in Singapore. Cheap booze (alcohol in SG is normally very expensive) was a big highlight. Tons of fun and you'd meet all kinds of people.
