I know this just from a Twitch streamer I watch. He'll occasionally have to stream with the camera off because having the camera on takes a lot of energy

I've never had a camera on during meetings. The profile pictures of people also make me feel the same way as video.

I feel bad about it, used to have the stand up scrums and then just disappeared behind a computer oh well, been like that over a year and a half now. Only 1 out of say 10 people have their webcam on now used to be more early on.

It is tiring. Even more so for me as I joined remotely a few months ago in my new job. Knew 0 people in the new company!

Having the camera on is not a requirement for doing actual work. It can be nice to see your fellow coworkers, but it's no substitution for an actual physical meeting.

Having worked both in a remote and office setting, i much prefer the latter as it makes for better relations and getting to know people.

I guess remote work is just not for everyone.

Exactly! And due to WFH we have to set a meeting for every little thing.

I think streamers get used to it because a lot of them stream for 4-8 hours a day.

kinda a survivor bias thing here
