Track Biden – The first 100 Days (trackbiden.com)

I think the broader idea of increasing political accountability through data tracking/visualization/notification could be a powerful tool for improving democracy

In the past I've thought about doing something similar at a local level, for county commissioners and the like. Local government - due to most people not paying attention to it - is known for having some of the highest corruption of any level. Imagine shining a light on it with data (maybe partly automated?), identifying conflicts of interest, sources of egregious waste, and elected officials who don't hold up their campaign promises. Most of this data is made public already, it's just on hard-to-find webpages and in hard-to-parse formats (and not aggregated).

One could do the legwork to find it, scrape it, organize it, and then publish both the raw data and various analyses in a digestible format, and that might have a real impact. Imagine signing up to get a push notification whenever your councilman votes on an issue

I'm going to say that any website that has its own "enable push notifications" popup is automatically malicious.

This is one of the few websites I've seen where such a thing makes sense, imo

Though I agree with you, you'll notice that it is a feature explicitly provided by your web browser. Ergo, web devs will use it.

Just disable it.

this isn't the usual browser one, this is an overlay.

This was not supposed to happen, I agree! May I ask what's your browser?

I think almost all of these are great, and it'll be cool to follow the progress of most of these. The one thing I disagree with is this "ghost gun" policy:

> Stop “ghost guns.” One way people who cannot legally obtain a gun may gain access to a weapon is by assembling a one on their own, either by buying a kit of disassembled gun parts or 3D printing a working firearm. Biden will stop the proliferation of these so-called “ghost guns” by passing legislation requiring that purchasers of gun kits or 3D printing code pass a federal background check. Additionally, Biden will ensure that the authority for firearms exports stays with the State Department, and if needed, reverse a proposed rule by President Trump. This will ensure the State Department continues to block the code used to 3D print firearms from being made available on the Internet.

I think it's wrong to try to ban code.

More importantly, it's logistically impossible to ban code.

Also unconstitutional. It was clever of Zimmermann to publish PGP source in a book (which happened to be machine-readable) to make the First Amendment violation completely obvious.

Am I looking in the wrong place? Ctrl-F "ghost" on the OP gives me no hits.

I'd be curious too! "Federal mask mandate" : LMAO. In that country ! This mandate would attract so much politics and all those crazy "freedom" fans from the Donald fanbase. This alone would be a good drama for the hundred days.

As far as I can tell there already is a mask mandate at all federal facilities I know of.

It's such a disgusting state of affairs that people have been brainwashed into openly mocking Americans concerned with their freedom. We went from the land of the free, home of the brave, to this. Trump was the last dying breath of anything that America once was, it's all over now. With near complete partisan control over mass media, big tech, and education, it's never coming back after this.

If you think that was the death of it, I hate to break it to you but it was dead long before. This is just a husk

How about betting? That would be fun.

So according to this Biden has administered 16.5m vaccines in his first hours in office...? I don't think anybody in their right mind can attribute that to him.

This number referenced from the official CDC COVID Data Tracker https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#vaccinations , the goal of Biden's administration is to reach 100m in the first 100 days

It doesn't matter where the number was pulled from. The point is this looks like Biden did it as part of his presidency and that is completely dishonest. If you tell me you're going to 100m in the first 100 days that means the number starts at 0 on your first day.

No. Having a 100 million people vaccinated in the U.S. does not start at 0. Then you would have 100 million+ people vaccinated. The projection was made off of the data at the time of the estimate, which lead them to feel 100 million was possible. What you want is accountability for which president was in office for every last person, which is not what he is promising.

If Biden said "I would bring the DOW to 30k", you wouldn't expect him to first bring it to zero, or to arbitrarily start wherever it left off with the last president.

“This team will help get … at least 100 million covid vaccine shots into the arms of the American people in the first 100 days,”

Perhaps it's interpretation but I read that as meaning the number starts at zero. Your example says "I would bring the DOW to 30k" which is different from what Biden said. He didn't say I will bring the vaccine to 100m he said I will get 100m people vaccinated in 100 days. While I can see how that could be interpreted the way you claim I also can and do read it the other way.

Either way I think at a minimum there should be attribution as 16.5m is a significant amount of people already vaccinated that the graph appears to give him credit for.

Also at least WebMD appears to agree with my interpretation as they talk about 1 million doses a day for 100 days.

> sign a federal mask mandate (done) > President Biden signs an executive order implementing a national mask mandate on federal property.

I wouldn't consider that done. Maybe I don't understand the dog whistle property, but I always assumed that a federal mask mandate was like a normal federal law that was legally binding on all US land not just the capital, white House, and such.
