Does it mean you can no longer easily tell if a process has gone crazy and takes high CPU usage without a fan and you also can't even feel the slow down.

Just wait, we’ll soon have an app for that — the equivalent of fake engine sound for EVs.

I like the idea. An app that roars louder the higher the cpu load.

Nullsoft (remember them?) had 'beep' which was always a joy to run.

Of Winamp fame? Of course!

Haha!!!

Sorry but is this crazy to need the fan to sense the performance!

That is true in many situations, like a remote server. That's why we have top on the commandline, or iStat Menus. But I'm not sure if iStat Menus actually works on the new machines.

Those are passive solutions. You'd be looking at them after you realize something doesn't look right.

iStat or similar can do a notification if a process is taking high CPU usage for a while.

Servers have their own solutions like monitoring daemons that sends out an alert if CPU usage had been too high for a while.

Totally broke my workflow: https://xkcd.com/1172/

I was wondering something similar. VSCode tends to fly off the handle every once in a while and the only way I notice currently is a subtle lagging and the fan spinning up.

Though recently I switched back to VIM so perhaps this won't be an issue anymore.
