Perfectly stated. First CPU was expensive, now it's cheap. Then storage was expensive it's cheap. Then network, etc.

It's like there are different ways to optimize/reduce areas of complexity, and if you focus on one you trade off another.

Very interesting idea though of basically having logical "stacks" of applications/libs/configs for your home directory / personal preferences.
