Yeah I tend to agree. Dystopian. But, when I open a SWE JD, I get about 800 applications. Stack ranking those maybe 100 seem pretty qualified, and 20 seem really qualified and is all I have time for with 30 min hiring manager screens. As I start going down the list, each applicant is probably subjectively worse and worse, but I bet there are lots of candidates I would love and are largely fungible from a skill set perspective, but there’s not enough time in the day to 30 minute screen interview all 100 that seem to fit the requirements. I would love a way to talk to all 100 and make a ranking rather than just subjectively stack ranking and working my way down the list based on resume alone.
Those “early” ai generated avatars created from you sending in a handful of your own photos. Absolutely printed money, hit right as mildly technical people could use the tech + the tech was developed enough, but before normal people could easily do it.
It’s getting really bad. New accounts hours old posting walls of AI-generated garbage comments across dozens of topics. Please restrict new posters, minimally, and perhaps add a little friction to new account sign ups.
I moved to Fastmail, set it up with Gmail so I received forwarded emails. Years later there’s still a long tail of senders using my Gmail, but I get the emails forwarded, and only actually log in to Gmail every six months or so.
They wiped all the emails from my 25 year old Hotmail account. Pretty weak. I refuse to use Microsoft products except if forced, and do my best to evangelize this position.
It’s a grift being perpetuated by the folks at the top, who then sweep along in their slipstream folks under them, and so on. The folks who “need to hear this” are helpless to go against and so can’t back down, and the folks who don’t need to hear this because they’re driving it have their paychecks aligned to it, so they’re not backing down.
I can’t remember if Kagi auto blocks it or if I blocked it completely on my first search, but I haven’t seen Pinterest trash in search results on literal years. <3 Kagi.
