Coincidently, Claude Code appears to be down right now (in Europe West at least).

Everytime I hear of something X Azure announcement, that something just seem to break right away.

I know correlation is not causation, but my opinion of Azure is already too damn low to not link those two events.

It's also down for me here in Brazil. Getting overloaded errors for about one hour now. It's been happening a lot this week. Is this normal for Anthropic?

Working fine for me right now, from Brazil. Claude via Github Copilot at least.

I'm using Claude Code on the terminal. Not sure if it matters.

  API Error: 529

The promotional double usage period is just about to end too. Sucks.

It's down for me too. A colleague says it's up though - it's possible they're shedding different groups of users (he has the Max subscription, I don't).

Azure, the color of BSOD

The ability for some people to perpetually move the goalpost will never cease to amaze me.

I guess that's one way to tell us apart from AIs.

The main reason for my top post is that I felt I should admit the AI scored a goal today and the last one or two weeks. I said I'd be impressed if it could solve an open problem. It just did. People can argue about how it's not that impressive because if every mathematician were trying to solve this problem they probably would have. However, we all know that humans have extremely finite time and attention, whereas computers not so much. The fact that AI can be used at the cutting edge and relatively frequently produce the right answer in some contexts is amazing.

That's the plan. But if they do it right away people will revolt.

Same here!

I found now was a good time to build that NAS I wanted to have a long time ago, and the first thing I installed on it was a Navidrome server so I could listen to my curated music everywhere.

Hopefully we're entering the era of people ditching megacorp craps and switching to personal cloud solutions.

YouTube will be very hard to replace though.

> Microsoft's best security measure was making something nobody cared enough about to hack in the first place

Maybe that's what they're trying to achieve with Windows as well.

Does this only affect money invested after June 15th, or does this also devalues money invested before this date? If you don't invest anymore money in the index during the interim rebalancing period refered to by the author, then one should be alright. Right? It's really expensive to get all your marbles out, I'd rather not do it if I don't have to.

Right, you are trapped if you are holding QQQ in a taxable account and have substantial gains, so you should do nothing with the shares you already have. But no, ceasing to invest in it will not save you. The rebalancing discussed in the article happens internally with you already invested dollars.

But do take this moment to realize QQQ never made sense to invest in, and put your future dollars somewhere else. There are plenty of funds that overweight large cap tech but track an index that doesn't care which exchange the stock is listed on.

QQQ rebalances on a schedule. Existing holders are affected because the fund’s underlying composition will change.

This. If you are invested in a Nasdaq index (e.g. QQQ), it will have to sell some of the tail and buy the necessary weighted percentage of Snake Oil. Apart from you buying snake oil, you will realise some extra capital gains/loses due to the rebalancing.

And to be clear it's not just QQQ; countless retirement target date funds have a Nasdaq component. That's the real target of this grift, your retirement fund.

EAGER is not enough. EAGER only guarantees one side of the conjoined triangles of success. They teach this at business school.

>By the way old chap, you have gone over your storage limit. Do you want to buy more or delete some stuff?

Why does my AWS counselor sound British. Am I in eu-west-2?

Why shouldn't it, its just a machine? Wouldn't the world be better if these messages varied a bit!

Spirals again.

Those AIs have read too much Junji Ito.
