I just want the extra (vs non-Ultras) button THAT'S ALREADY THERE to allow mapping to "lap". Blew my mind that wasn't possible when I went to try one at the apple store.
Not that I could find in settings... the settings menu let me start a workout but that was all I saw. Maybe it just wasn't discoverable... Just looked at the online user manual and the only mention of lap control is in the stopwatch app (not workouts). It does mention secondary actions, but doesn't elaborate... if that actually does control the lap, Apple really sucks at doc.

Plus, I really want a mini version. The Ultra is MASSIVE to the point it's ridiculous.
+1, by the time everybody sworn about MCPs, skills became a more efficient alternative. People learned to aggressively context manage, then longer context windows and agentic made that a lot less important.
If the technique is any good, it will be baked in the next version.
My philosophy is to avoid plugins / MCPs unless strictly required, and to have thorough prompts. This way I’ve successfully avoided to be in the way of progress by forcing obsolete optimisations on my LLMs
But that’s not true though. You still have to convince humans. You still have to deal with what people in power feel (clients, leads,etc)
This still adds wall time. I saw 0 serious analysis confirming 5x productivity gains.
In the coding part? Maybe, and that’s not even certain. But pure coding is only one order of making software, or solving problems with software
and 0 analysts were saying agentic workflows actually worked 6 months ago, they were completely disillusioned and yet here we are
if you’re actually building these things, you know they and the CEOs they’re hearing from are all 6 months behind. the executive’s frantic pivot to shove “AI” down everyone’s throat didn’t pan out in one quarter and had nothing to do with the actual concept at all
that, and every industry is different. I wouldn’t listen to analysts, I’m in an industry that even Anthropic thinks wont be touched by AI (even though they can read ours and everyone else’s sessions)
all public discourse is just flat wrong, and just like every week this year, you’re just going to wake up seeing a new AI capability headline that makes you question your role in society. So play devil’s advocate all you want, the silver lining is that there’s more work to do than ever before and more of it can be tackled at once
The problem is that it doesn't even respect this choice. My native language is not English and most of the videos in this languages will be auto transcript to English. Even the last time I changed both the language and country and YouTube still managed to auto transcript to English.
The solution is a simple toggle to turn it off, not pushing it to our throat.
That just tells it which languages to serve if the video has multiple tracks, including Ai-generated ones. "Keep original language" should be the default, or at least an opt-in.
And what about the atrocious title auto-translations? I'm in France, my browser is set to accept EN-us and FR-fr as languages, and my Youtube is in EN. And yet it keeps auto-translating the titles of some French videos. And the translation is so awful, it mistranslates many things and translates literally some obvious puns, that I can't believe they're using Gemini for this. They must have repurposed a 5-year old version of Google Translate. It is not consistent either, the titles are translated in the home page, but not in the channel's page.
+1, I wonder how many will stick to it. The decision tree is pretty simple :
- are all the devices / soft they use compatible with Linux ?
- do they know enough about Linux to solve their problems ?
I switched my gaming pc to Linux and my only remaining issue that seems over my head is getting proper fancy audio effects or equalizer settings for my headset. Music and games are night and day from windows to linux.
+1. I worked on an internal corporate eCommerce in 2005 built entirely on DOM + XSLT to create the final HTML. It was an atrocious pain in the neck to maintain (despite being server side so the browser never had to deal with the XSLT).
Unless you still manipulate XML and need to transform it in various other formats through XSLT/XSL-FO, I don’t see why anyone would bother with it.

I am a manager, and frankly, getting a bit tired of people who just cast some degree of in person presence as “pure desire for control”. People require coordination (that’s partly why manager / project manager / product manager roles exist), and that coordination is orders of magnitude easier and faster in person. Sometimes just in the course of going from meeting A to meeting B, I will solve <=3 minutes stuff that would take me 2-3x the amount of time via chat or quick ad hoc meetings.
I am against full RTO 5 days a week, because for focused tasks, WFH is way more productive. But hybrid is not entirely stupid.
Sure, if 100% of your work is focused work (say SWE work for instance), anything other than full WFH is a loss to you. But unless you work 100% alone with nobody else, 100% optimal for you may not be 100% optimal for the project / product / organisation.
And I’ve seen first hand how conflicts brew when people can’t just go in front of a white board and hash out differences in person
Tl;dr : it’s wayyyyyyyy more nuanced than “RTO is stupid you control freak”
